Schools are OPEN and buses are running today for HWDSB. Dec. 15. A freezing rain warning is in effect with mixed precipitation transitioning to rain or snow in the afternoon.
Therefore HDIS is open for in person learning as well.

Environment Canada has issued a Freezing Rain Warning for Hamilton, which means we have our first official storm watch post of the school year.
Remember, if buses are not running, then schools are closed and all learning is cancelled. A decision will be shared by 6 a.m.
HDIS will also be closed if HWDSB is closed due to storm. kindly check CHCH or HWDSB around 6:15 am.

This is to inform all that HDIS will remain open during the current strike of CUPE at HWDSB which led to the school closure tomorrow November 7th and online learning until any further notice as per labour updates.
This is entirely a different matter than holidays/PA days therefore Hamilton Downtown Islamic School will remain open and function as usual according to our yearly calendar posted on the website.

This is to inform all that Friday, October 21st, 2022 is scheduled to be meet Teacher’s day at school. There will be no school/ instruction for the students. Parents can come in from 10:00 am-2:00 pm to meet the teachers.
It is not an instructional day for children, parents will have the chance to meet with homeroom and subject teachers.
Parents are advised to contact the homeroom teacher if there is a need for sensitive discussion related to their child/children. You are requested to keep this meeting brief for 15 minutes to be fair to all visiting families.

We would like to inform all HDIS families that Monday, October 24th is PA Day, therefore is no school for children. Teachers will have professional Activities full day. Our office will remain open for business.
Monday, 24th October is not marked in our yearly Calendar; however, we are posting in advance to inform all families that it is PA Day at Hamilton Downtown Islamic School and at Hamilton Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB). We follow and synchronize with HWDSB yearly Calendar for most of the holidays and PA days except Eid and extra PA days.

Hope everyone enjoyed the Summer Holidays. Hamilton Downtown Islamic School welcomes all new and returning students. The first day of school will be Tuesday, September 6th,2022. HDIS morning bell time is 8:50 am, the entrance door opens at 8:35 am. The dismissal is at 3:15 pm for the whole school from the main Community Hall. There will be supervision only 15 minutes before and after school and $10/child/hour will be charged if a child stays later than 3:30 pm.
Every Friday is early dismissal and students will be dismissed at 2:00 pm. Pick-up time is 2:15 pm max.
Alhamdulillah, we survived the difficult past two years and I expect that we safely move forward in cooperation with parents, students, and teaching staff to create a pleasant learning atmosphere required by Public Health and the Ministry of Education and prosper with the Islamic worldview.

This is a reminder that there will be no school on Monday, May 23rd. It is a Canadian statutory holiday celebrated on the Monday before May 25th in every province and territory.

Asslamo-Alaikom HDIS Parents,
This is to inform all that we will continue to dismiss school earlier on Fridays. The dismissal time for every Friday will be 2:15 pm. This decision is based on parent’s request, they can now pick up their children from school immediately after Jumma prayer.
A reminder that child/children have to be picked up within the time frame of 15 minutes before and after school to avoid the charges. Please arrange to pick up your child/children on 3:15-3:30 Monday to Thursday and from 2:15-2:30 pm on Fridays to avoid late fees.

This is a reminder that Friday 29th of April is a PA day at Hamilton Downtown Islamic School. Therefore, no school for children on coming Friday. Eid Holidays are from 2nd of May till 4th of May. Students will be back in School on Thursday, 5th of May 2022.
We will go back to our previous school timings i.e. 8:50-3:15 starting from Thursday 5th of May 2022.
