Assalam-Alaikum,
We hope everyone had a safe and relaxing time during the summer break. This is the time to get back to school with all safety protocols and instructions from Public Health and the Ministry of Education.
The first day of school is Wednesday, September 8th, 2021. We will start full-time in-person learning and will continue to work according to the instructions from Public Health and MED. The HDIS learning community will be informed of any possibility of the lockdown and online learning due to COVID.
The school will start at 8:50 am and finish at 3:15 pm. Students should not come to school earlier than 15 minutes, prior to school start time and should leave by 3:30 maximum to avoid before and after school charges.
Mask is mandatory for all grades except kindergarten. Daily screening is a must for all the students and staff members. Parents are requested to screen their children daily and keep them at home if there are any symptoms. Teachers will screen in the morning and if a child has symptoms, he/she will either be denied entry to the school or will be isolated until parents will come to pick him/her up. There will be two nutrition breaks and sharing of lunch is strictly prohibited.
We are looking forward to a great start and need the cooperation of parents and the community. Please register your child/children, if you haven’t done yet as soon as possible to get the confirmation and supplies/books on time.
Thank you.
#OurLondonFamily
Dear Community,
We are heartbroken at Hamilton Downtown Islamic School at the tragic loss of four members of a Muslim family in London as a result of hate crime. Hamilton Downtown Islamic School staff stand in solidarity with community at this difficult time while praying for the family.
This is the time we strengthen ourselves and unite against Islamophobia since our children may feel scared and unsafe after this horrific incident.
I have been receiving condolence emails from other Faith and learning communities for the Muslim family in grief. These messages show their respect for our Faith and school community.
May Allah protect every one and give the surviving child and relatives strength to cope with irreparable loss.
Ameen

Our staff is working hard to adapt to fluctuations with the best possible teaching methods and resources to educate HDIS children and fill in any gap this might have caused. You are requested to connect with the homeroom teacher for possible E-learning digital requirements and set up to avoid any loss in your child’s learning.
